7 Ways to Tell If You Ex-Boyfriend Still Likes You
You and your boyfriend recently split. Now you're hoping for a sign that he regrets his breakup decision and might want to reunite. What signs should you look for to tell if your ex is interested in getting back together?
1. He gives you a warm smile - You probably know your ex well enough to tell when he's faking a smile and when he genuinely means it. If he gives you a warm, inviting smile and looks happy to see you, he's interested.
2. He makes prolonged eye contact - It's often said that the eyes are the windows to the soul. If your ex is interested, he'll hold your eye contact and act interested during conversation. If he's not interested, he'll avoid eye contact or limit the amount of eye contact he makes. You'll notice him looking around or even looking bored.
3. He initiates conversation - Does your ex deliberately look for opportunities to start conversations with you? If a guy is interested, he'll talk to you about virtually anything. He'll keep a positive, upbeat atmosphere during the conversation and may joke around or tease you to see if he can still make you laugh.
4. His body language - How your ex reacts around you will tell you quite a bit about what he's thinking. If he orients his body towards you, leans forward, keeps an open posture and starts mirroring your gestures (for instance, you scratch your head, then he scratches his; you take a sip of your drink, then he sips his own), you can tell he's interested. If he has his body or feet turned away from you or he's leaning backwards with his arms folded in front of him or his legs crossed, he's not interested.
5. He touches you lightly - If he gives you a light, brief touch on the arm or hand while talking to you, he may be interested. Touch is a subtle form of communication, and men often will casually touch the woman they're interested in to highlight a point they're making or to express support.
6. He tries to interact with you - If he's calling or texting you, sends you messages through MySpace or Facebook, or you keep running into him wherever you go, chances are, he's making an effort to stay in your life. That's a key sign he has realized how much you mean to him and is afraid he'll lose you.
7. He wants to be friends - During a breakup, guys will often say they "just want to be friends" but they don't really mean it. If your guy actively tries to keep you in his life, interacts with you socially, and gives you his full attention when you are together, it's possible he's not over you.
If you notice your ex is acting especially friendly or flirtatious towards you, he may be interested in reconciling. How you respond is key to whether or not you two get back together. Be casual and upbeat whenever you're around him. Never act angry, sad, depressed or rude when talking with him. Don't bring up anything about the breakup, your past relationship, or who he's spending time with now. And most importantly, make sure he's the one initiating any talk about getting back together.
